Engaged by CPB Georgiou JV, Chess Engineering was commissioned to manufacture, supply, and install “The Great Emu in the Sky” — a monumental 30-metre-high steel sphere sculpture perched on 5–7 m support legs, soon to become the largest external sculpture in the Southern Hemisphere and a defining landmark of the M12 Motorway project.

Key project highlights:

• 3.7 km of stainless steel “branches”, precision-formed using custom in-house jigs
• No trial assembly — achieved <5 mm accuracy through advanced jigging and check-measure systems
• 1,500 internal LED lights representing the Emu in the Sky constellation
• Designed for aerial visibility — visible from planes taking off and landing
